Innovative, mobile and cost-efficient system for wound cleaning with ultrasound

Background:

Ultrasound-assisted wound debridement is a very effective, quick and gentle method for cleaning acute and chronic wounds. Even in hard-to-reach areas of the body, the procedure can break down biofilms (without the expense of an operating theater) and make them more difficult to regenerate, remove non-vital tissue and create a clean wound bed while maintaining healthy tissue.

Ultrasound-assisted wound debridement technology uses the effects of cavitation through low-frequency ultrasound. It is suitable for use on various chronic wounds such as leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers and acute wounds (for example: post-operative wounds).

The System:

The Curason device, which is developed and manufactured in Germany, provides the following advantages:

  • A combination of mechanical abrasion and ultrasound-assisted micro-cleaning ensures the best wound cleaning with unsurpassed gentleness and effectiveness.

  • Due to the special design, biofilms can be broken up and removed. The bacteria lose their protective shield and can be effectively eliminated, for example: with an antiseptic solution.

  • Due to a lack of mobility, many patients never reach a therapy facility specializing in infected wounds. With the curason you bring the innovative treatment to the patient.

  • The system concept eliminates the need for time-consuming cleaning of the instrument. After the treatment, the sterile cleaning head is simply disposed of properly.

  • Thanks to the patented technology, the patient's environment is not contaminated when used properly and does not have to be cleaned after the treatment.

  • In order to prevent a cross-contaminations from one patient to another, a patented software-based concept for the single use of the cleaning heads was developed.
